Who we are

SenLens is a UK-based family activity directory. We help families discover days out, with a particular focus on SEN-friendly venues across London, Kent, Surrey and the South East of England.

What data we collect

We collect minimal personal data. Specifically:

Usage data - If you accept analytics cookies, we collect anonymised data about how you use our site (pages visited, time on site, device type) via Google Analytics.
Search queries - Location searches you perform on our site. These are not linked to your identity.
Contact enquiries - If you email us, we store your email address to respond to your enquiry.
Feedback - If you submit a rating or comment via our feedback widget, we store your rating and any optional comment. No email address or identity is collected.

We do not create user accounts, store passwords, or collect payment information. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

How we use your data

To improve our website and venue listings based on usage patterns
To respond to contact enquiries
To understand which venues and areas are most useful to families

We do not sell, share, or pass your data to third parties for marketing purposes.

Cookies and local storage

We use cookies only with your consent. See our Cookie Policy for full details.

We also use your browser's localStorage (not a cookie, but similar device-side storage) to remember preferences without requiring an account. Specifically:

cookie_consent - Stores your cookie preference (accepted/declined)
cdo_shortlist - Stores your saved venue shortlist
senlens_disclaimer_dismissed - Remembers if you've dismissed the venue information notice (resets after 24 hours)
senlens_feedback_submitted - Remembers if you've recently submitted feedback (resets after 24 hours)

This data stays on your device and is never transmitted to our servers. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

Third-party services

We use the following third-party services:

Google Analytics - Website analytics (only with your consent)
Supabase - Our database provider (venue data only, no personal data)
Vercel - Website hosting (processes server logs)

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

Know what data we hold about you
Request deletion of your data
Object to processing of your data
Withdraw consent for analytics cookies at any time (clear your browser cookies)

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

Data retention

Analytics data is retained for 14 months (Google Analytics default). Contact enquiries are retained for up to 2 years. We do not retain any other personal data.
